Main street outdoor dining set for second boost

The owners of shops in Campbelltown and Ingleburn who would like to grow their businesses are being offered a helping hand – again.

Grants of up to $5000 are available to help them establish an outdoor dining area.

The grants aim to help local restaurants, bakeries, takeaway shops, hotels, bistros and cafes to purchase quality outdoor dining furniture to establish or enhance their outdoor dining space.

While this benefits business owners, the improved amenity of our main streets is also good for the local community as it increases their dining options.

This is the second round of Campbelltown Council’s outdoor dining grants, the first coming last year.

“Outdoor dining enhances our streetscapes and helps local eateries to expand the capacity of their business,” says Campbelltown Mayor George Greiss.

The first round of grants released in 2023 saw more than $85,000 worth of funding distributed across 21 businesses in the Campbelltown and Ingleburn city centres.

“The first round of grants was very popular and saw a fantastic outcome with several businesses able to upgrade their outdoor dining areas,” Cr Greiss said.

Council says assistance is available for businesses to assess the visual profile of their proposed dining area and to apply for the grants.

There is one condition: businesses must have a valid outdoor dining permit to apply.

Grant applications will close on Monday, March 18, so those interested are urged to get in early so they don’t miss out on a grant.

Further grant conditions and information on how to apply are available on Campbelltown Council’s website here.
