If you’re retired and looking for friendship, fellowship and fun opportunities the Macquarie Fields Probus Club may be your next stop.
It has more than 30 members already, just six months after it was established.
But it has room to grow so it’s actively looking for more local residents to join them.
“If you want to keep active and connected in retirement, get in touch with us,’’ says a member of the Probus Club committee.
South West Voice dropped in on the club’s meeting a couple of weeks ago, and we’d have to say it would be hard to find a happier bunch of retired people than the ones we met.
Club meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 10am at Glenquarie Library and the group organises guest speakers to give members an opportunity to hear from experts on various issues or learn more about the services available in their local community.

Recently local MPs Anoulack Chanthivong and David Moncrieff were the star turn at a Probus Club meeting in the library (pictured above).
“I’m so excited that Macquarie Fields has a brand new Probus Club,’’ said federal MP David Moncrieff.
“It was fantastic to join them and Anoulack Chanthivong for a chat about what matters in this community,’’ he said.
There’s a lot more to Macquarie Fields Probus Club than its monthly meetings.
In its short history the club has really tried to live up to the Probus motto: friendship, fellowship and fun.
The club offers a range of activities, including trips and outings for members to enjoy, depending on their interests, lifestyle and location.
The group has recently visited local attractions such as the Western Sydney International Airport Experience Centre and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.
A train and ferry trip to Manly is coming up soon.
Probus regularly hosts local walks in the community, with chats and coffee at a local café. Lunches at local restaurants are also organised.
