Macarthur Rams set to lock horns with Northern Tigers

With a new coach on board, the Macarthur Rams head north of the harbour tonight to take on Northern Tigers in round 13 of the FNSW League One men’s premiership hoping to turn their fortunes around.

Following last week’s 0-0 draw at Lynwood Park against Dulwich Hill, the Rams announced they had appointed Darren Jones as first grade head coach for the rest of the season.

With just one win, three losses and a draw in the past five games, the Rams have been steadily slipping down the competition ladder.

Time will tell if the new coach can make an impact, but at least there’s still plenty of time left in the season.

Tonight’s match against the Northern Tigers at North Turramurra Recreation Area (7pm kick-off), will be a stern test for the Rams, and the new coach.

The Tigers sit five spots above the Rams on the ladder, with two more wins than Macarthur.

However, they were defeated in their last outing, so the Tigers will also have their own challenges tonight.

As for the Rams, they were fortunate to escape with a draw at Lynwood Park last Saturday night.

The game started off with both sides happy to get to know each other, with only a few half chances coming in the opening 15 minutes.

When they did come, it was Dulwich Hill which looked more likely to get on the scoreboard.

At the other end of the field, Daniel Bittar was doing his best to make things happen for the Rams.

In the final analysis, though, neither side was able to find the back of the net, the players leaving the field after 90 minutes with a 0-0 scoreline.
