The Macarthur FC grassroots family has expanded again after welcoming Highlands Soccer Association to the fold this week.
Highlands join Bankstown Amateur Football Association, Southern Districts Football Association, Macarthur Football Association and Southern Tablelands Football Association as community partners of Macarthur FC.
It means the A-League newest club’s territory stretches from Bankstown, through Liverpool and Campbelltown, into the Wollondilly and down to Goulburn.
Macarthur FC’s community engagement program now encompasses more than 120 clubs, while supporting almost 40,000 players and officials.
These figures, set to rise even more in coming years, will see the club situated in the fastest growth corridor in Australia.
More than that it’s another vote of confidence in the new club, which has yet to kick a ball in anger in the A-League.
“A core value of the club from the very beginning has been to engage with, and grow participant numbers, especially female registrations in our region,’’ says Macarthur FC Bulls chairman Gino Marra.
“This partnership with Highlands Soccer Association allows us to continue to develop and roll out programs and pathways for grassroots clubs from Bargo to Marulan,’’ he said.
“These programs will provide pathway opportunities from grassroots to professional football, not only for players but coaches and officials also.’’
Danny Josipovic, the chairman of Highlands Soccer Association, was thrilled with the partnership.
“I believe the partnership with Macarthur FC will provide greater opportunities for player talent identification, and elite football development programs, not only for players but also coaches right across the Highlands,’’ he said.
“The importance of growing and developing female football further should not be understated and this partnership will enhance that.
“Highlands Soccer Association looks forward to working collaboratively with Macarthur FC to develop specific programs to benefit both organisations.”
