Recognition: Staff and volunteers of the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living celebrate their award honour this week.

The Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) is on the road to becoming a world class educational facility.

It aims to demonstrate the benefits of alternative energy production and use, waste water recycling, energy efficiency, waste avoidance and green space management no matter where you are on the planet.

MCSL conducts community educational programs and projects out of its Mt Annan premises that build social capacity and empower individuals to embrace sustainable lifestyles.

Now it has been nationally recognized for its ambitious goals by winning the sustainability category of the 2017 Australian Business Awards.

“The centre is honoured to receive this award,’’ says Helen Byfield-Fleming, coordinator of MCSL.

Ms Byfield-Fleming said the award was recognition for MCSL’s achievements in the research and development of education for sustainable development programs.

“With this award, my staff and volunteers will be able to work towards a brighter future for the centre delivering sustainable education programs and activities for the Macarthur region and beyond,” Ms Byfield-Fleming said.

Now in their 12th year, the Australian Business Awards (ABA) recognise organisations that demonstrate the core values of business and product innovation, technological achievement and employee engagement.

“In this context, the performance of companies depends more than ever on their flexibility, adaptability and responsiveness.

“New technological possibilities have the potential to transform the way companies operate within their respective industries with long term gains in efficiency, productivity and customer loyalty.

“Each year the ABA winners are recognised for their commitment to business and product innovation and for their achievements in transforming business practices and end user experiences.

“The Australian Business Awards are proud to acknowledge the role of these leading corporate, government and non-government organisations for implementing innovative, well-managed, high-performing business initiatives and for the research and development of their innovative products and services,” Ms Johnston said.
