Macarthur region charities are linking up with each other to provide better outcomes and support for our community.

The Charity Links Macarthur initiative got off the ground late last year, with an inaugural networking meeting held in February.

The initiative was founded by an executive consisting of representatives from Disability Macarthur, Lifeline Macarthur, The Mark Grundy Oesophageal Cancer Awareness Group Inc. (OCAGI) and Youth Solutions. MayTek IT Solutions have also jumped on board to support the initiative, developing and maintaining the Charity Links Macarthur web page.

Youth Solutions communications coordinator Amanda Dillon said Charity Links Macarthur was all about strengthening the relationship between charities in the Macarthur region.

“Charity Links Macarthur is an informal networking group which we hope will improve the connection between charities in Macarthur. In turn this will help us to foster a healthier, well-supported and inclusive Macarthur community,” Mrs Dillon said.

Disability Macarthur CEO Annamaria Wood said: “We realise how important it is to work together in order to achieve the best outcomes for the people in our community. This group gives us the chance to support one another, as well as the community.”

OCAGI Founder and president Polly Grundy said: “We see this initiative as a great platform for sharing appropriate resources and expertise and tackling common challenges with shared solutions. It’s simply all about supporting one another and supporting the work our charities do in Macarthur.”

Lifeline Macarthur marketing and events manager Sonia Hollands said:

So we invite all Macarthur region charities to come along to the networking meetings to talk about charity-specific issues and challenges.”[/social_quote]

Charity Links Macarthur has also started preliminary work on a shared calendar of charity events to assist charities and the community to track fundraising events throughout the year.

The inaugural Charity Links Macarthur meeting in February attracted more than 20 people from 13 different charities.
