FastTrack, Liverpool Council’s new development application processing system is aiming for a 10 day turnaround on development applications.
In its trial phase FastTrack slashed assessment times by 97 percent.
Decisions on 60 DAs were delivered within four days.
Liverpool Council says this system –which has been two years in the making – will take its processing times from the bottom to the top of the state.
NSW Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy Anthony Roberts launched FastTrack this morning at Casula Powerhouse.
The launch preceded the annual Invest Liverpool forum, which is aimed at the development and building industry.
Liverpool Council has had one of the lowest-performing times for processing development applications (104 day average).
Over the past two years the council has been working to change it by establishing the FastTrack system.
The FastTrack pilot has been trialled over the past four months and working with Rawson Homes and Meriton to slash the time on low risk development applications (dwellings) to four days.
Sixty DAs went through the trial.
FastTrack aims to turn around DAs in new housing release areas within 10 days.
Council says FastTrack will reduce holding costs for customers by getting more housing to market faster, therefore increasing housing supply and stimulating construction work in the local economy.
This system has been two years in the making and will take Liverpool Council from the bottom to the top of the state.
It works by putting the onus on industry to submit high quality applications for low risk applications, particularly in new estates.
This morning’s launch was to business and industry, opening up the trial to the broader development community.
