Simply by quenching their thirst and having a meal Leumeah Hotel patrons are raising money for local charities.

It’s all part of Publinc Communities, the pub’s way to show its commitment to the local community.

The Publinc Communities program, which was launched last December, has Leumeah Hotel and its patrons collaborate to raise funds for local charities.

As members earn points through food and beverage purchases, Leumeah Hotel matches every point earned with a community point.

Members of Publinc Communities can also pledge to their selected local group or charity.

One of the first beneficiaries of the program has been the Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation, which was recently presented with $3,200 from the points donated by Leumeah Hotel customers.

Cameron Armstrong presents Kids of Macarthur Foundation CEO Denise McGrath with the money raised by Leumeah Hotel patrons as part of its Publinc Communities program.

The money will help fund paediatric medical equipment for the local hospital and children’s community health programs.

Leumeah Hotel manager Cameron Armstrong said he was impressed with the support of Kids of Macarthur, which raised the money in just six months.

“It all shows how supportive the Macarthur community is as a whole, which has been behind foundation for more than 20 years.’’

In addition to The Kids of Macarthur, the Leumeah Hotel program has also raised money to support Minto Cobras Junior Rugby League and Campbelltown Australian Football League by pledging Publinc Communities points to both clubs.

Mr Armstrong said the junior rugby club had received significant support from members.

“The funds raised for the club have helped cover the cost of equipment and player fees, assisting players in channelling their energy on the field and in reaching their sporting goals.

“As awareness of the Publinc Communities Program grows, Leumeah Hotel and its members will further continue to support local community groups,’’ Mr Armstrong said.

Leumeah Hotel urges members and any new customers to the hotel to join the program and nominate their favourite local community group.
