Campbelltown City’s canine community now has more space to run and play at the city’s newest leash free area, Milton Park in Macquarie Fields.
Located on Macquarie Road and opened last week, the new dedicated pooch park has a separate zone for smaller dogs, as well as seating and shaded areas for less active animals and their owners.
The new park is the fifth leash free area in Campbelltown City, complementing other facilities at Eagleview Road in Minto, Kellerman Drive in St Helens Park, Hurricane Drive in Raby and Newton Road in Glenfield.
Council’s leash free areas are open seven days a week during daylight hours, with solar lighting at Minto, St Helens Park and Raby providing extended play times into the early evening.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said the new leash free area at Macquarie Fields was part of council’s commitment to providing a range of recreational facilities for residents, including the four legged variety.
“The new area provides a great space for exercising and socialising dogs, and I’m sure it will be enjoyed by pets and pet owners alike,” Cr Lake said.

All dogs entering leash free facilities must be accompanied by a capable person over the age of 16 and must be prevented from harassing or chasing any person or animal.
