Free information sessions: Members of the Macarthur Legal Centre.

Do you know what your legal rights are?

What about your legal responsibilities?

Do you know what services are available to assist you in legal matters?

Most people would have answered “no’’ so they would be interested to know that a series of free information sessions called “Let’s talk legal’’ are just what they need.

Campbelltown City Council has joined forces with Macarthur Legal Centre to present the series throughout 2016.

Presented by professionals from Macarthur Legal Centre, the “Let’s talk legal’’ series will provide information on a variety of topics including family law, young people and the law and workplace rights.

The information sessions will be held at Campbelltown City library branches, beginning with elder law issues on Tuesday, April 5 from 2pm to 3.30pm, at the HJ Daley Library, as part of the NSW Seniors Festival. Topics covered in this session will include wills, financial management and guardianship.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said council was pleased to host the series to help residents access information and advocacy.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Most of us will need legal help at some time in our lives. The law can be complicated so it’s important to be informed and know when to seek professional advice,” Cr Hawker said.[/social_quote]

“These sessions aim to provide general legal information, helping residents to understand their rights and responsibilities.

“We hope that the sessions will raise community awareness of the services that are available and de-mystify some of the more common legal processes,” Cr Hawker said.

Information sessions will also be held during Youth Week, Law Week, Homelessness Prevention Week, Safe Work Australia Month, National Child Protection Week, Mental Health Week, Week Without Violence and National Carers Week.

While “Let’s talk legal’’ information sessions are free, bookings are essential.
