Despite wild and woolly weather, the last Liverpool Night Markets of the year attracted a good turnout under cover at the Northumberland Street carpark last Saturday.

“It was wonderful to see so many people brave the weather on Saturday to get swept up in the festive spirit and celebrate the start of the season as a community,’’ said Liverpool mayor Ned Mannoun.

“I’d say that some of the highlights were the special visit from Santa, the beautiful carols from the Combined Churches of Liverpool Choir, who I’d like to thank for their fantastic contribution to the evening, and the annual Liverpool Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony for which I was joined in lighting the tree by some of our young and most enthusiastic market-goers.

“From the launch in May to today, the Liverpool Night Markets have quickly become a much-loved community event, and I’d like to thank all of those involved, particularly the stall holders and market goers, who have been incredible supporters and advocates for the event.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Liverpool residents a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.”
