A ladies tag competition will be part of the Group 6 CRL season in 2016

Group 6 rugby league have announced that a Ladies League Tag competition will be an exciting addition to the local footy set up.

A number of Group 6 CRL clubs have announced they will be fielding teams this season and Group Six say they are hoping that more clubs will be able to nominate teams before the season kicks off.

So far Camden Rams, City Kangaroos, Oaks Tigers and Thirlmere Roosters have confirmed their teams, with Moss Vale Dragons and Warragamba likely to be fielding teams also.

Group 6 is hoping a preseason will allow them to select a Group 6 CRL Ladies Representative team to play in Batemans Bay on April 23.

“Hopefully all our local Oztag ladies will contact their clubs and sign up for this exciting new competition.

“The competition will offer a pathway for selection in the first Group 6 CRL Ladies Representative team.

“Plus an opportunity to be selected into the Greater Southern Stars regional team to play in the Country Championships at Kirkham Park on May 21.”

The 2016 trials kick off this weekend (Saturday, February 6) at Kirkham Park.

Group 6 are confident the trials will herald the start of a big year for the local competition.

The 2016 trials are under way because Easter is early this year at the end of March.

Group 6 grade competitions will start on the first weekend in April.

Tomorrow’s trials includes junior teams between South West Academy of Sports versus Parramatta, as well as the Eels taking on Wests Tigers in the National Youth Competition (NYC) level. Similar trials will be played on February 13 and 20.

Trials are open to the public to come along and check out the games.

Group 6 clubs have scheduled their trials to start at the end of February.
