The Labor Party have hit the ground running, announcing their Liverpool Council election team more than three months before the September 4 poll.
It follows the recent announcement of serving councillor Nathan Hagarty as their mayoral candidate.
Liverpool have elected their mayor by popular vote since the days of Mark Latham in the mid 1990s.
Today the party have released the names of everyone on their 2021 election ticket for both south and north wards.
There are four women in the 10 person team, three in south ward and one in north ward.
As well as being the Labor Party mayoral candidate, Cr Hagarty will also head up the ticket in north ward.
Among those joining him on the north ward ticket is fellow councillor and three-time deputy mayor, Ali Karnib.
“I’m immensely proud to lead this great team of candidates,’’ says Cr Hagarty.
“This is a diverse group of passionate locals that have spent decades working hard for our community.
“Should they be elected, they’ll make great representatives for the people of Liverpool,’’ Cr Hagarty said.
Leading the south ward ticket is current councillor and former state candidate for Holsworthy, Charishma Kaliyanda.
Joining her is an experienced team of community service and health advocates, including WSU community champion award winner and chair of Bonnie Support Services, Betty Green.
“The Liverpool Labor team reflects the rich experience and many talents of our broader community,’’ says Cr Kaliyanda.
“We know that residents want people who care about and are connected to our community to represent them – which is exactly what we have in this team.’’
The 2021 Liverpool Labor team for north ward is Nathan Hagarty, Ali Karnib, Lorraine Usher, Ethan Monaghan and Chris Stanley.
In south ward it’s Charishma Kaliyanda, Betty Green, Daniel Singleton, Patricia Glossop and Alaa Ahmad.

Press.. do enquire of Leader Nathan why his Labor team on this $350 million Council sides with Big Business (Qube) in withdrawing Council’s financial support to its local citizens who built the strong Appeal case against Qube’s approvals on the banks of the Georges River. Hagarty and his Labor team have decided to not fund our legal representatives in Court after all the work done to build the case.
