The special Campbelltown school Lomandra is planning to again send some of its students to the Kokoda Trek next year, but needs your help.
Its Kokoda for Kids project started in 2013 and was repeated in 2015, when Greg Warren, the State member for Campbelltown, was invited along to the character building walk in PNG.
Fundraising for the 2017 Kokoda trek starts this Thursday evening with a function at one of the coolest joints in Macarthur, Upstairs@Freds, which is located in Argyle Street, Camden.
Upstairs@Freds mine host Steve Wisbey says this promises to be a fun night for a great cause.
It will include a slide show of the 2015 Kokoda trip by Lomandra students, among other things.
Mr Warren, who will be attending the launch of fundraising at Upstairs@Freds this Thursday, urged local business people and residents to support this great project.
“Well, it’s Kokoda for Kids time again and in support of the Lomandra School, I’m heading back to do the track again in July 2017,’’ Mr Warren said.
“I am truly humbled that the school has invited me to join them again.

“The school does a great job providing support for students with challenging behaviour and mental health issues,’’ the local MP said.
“I have seen how the kids at Lomandra benefit enormously from this experience.’’
