On the eve of their big match with Melbourne Victory on Saturday night, Macarthur FC have announced the signing of New Zealand international Tommy Smith until the end of the A-League season.
With 50 appearances for the New Zealand national team under his belt, Smith brings a wealth of expertise to the Bulls, who are struggling with injuries to key players.
The centre-back will help to fortify the Bulls’ defence and add to the team’s resilience.
Smith’s signing also means boosting playing stocks ahead of their AFC Cup campaign as well as the final third of the A-League season.
The Bulls AFC Cup run continues next Tuesday, February 13 when they host Sabah FC in the zonal semi finals at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, 6pm kick off.
Today the club announced that tickets for this match are only $10 for adults/concessions and $5 for juniors.
Full season ticketed members will receive free access, exclusive to this match only.
In the meantime, Mcarthur FC have to travel to Melbourne to take on Victory at AAMI Park this Saturday night, February 10.
The round 16 match will be a clash between third and fourth on the ladder, with the Melbourne team just above Macarthur.
This will be the fourth A-League match between Melbourne Victory and Macarthur FC at AAMI Park; the Victory have won each of their last two meetings, after losing their inaugural fixture at the venue.
Melbourne Victory are undefeated in the 2023/24 A-League Men season (six weeks and nine draws); it’s the second longest unbeaten run to start a single season in the history of the competition.
The Bulls are not only due to win at AAMI Park, they’re also on a high after their incredible 4-3 win over the Wanderers last weekend at Campbelltown.
All things being equal, there’s a good chance our boys will be the first team to prick the Victory bubble this season.
