It’s not often a politician handing over a grant cheque produces tears of joy from the recipients.
Bu that’s what happened when Greg Warren, the Member for Campbelltown, visited Blairmount Public School with a $20,000 cheque in his pocket for urgently needed upgrades to Kathy’s Kitchen Canteen.
The Community Building Partnership (CBP) grant was met with tears of joy from Ms Kathy Low and the fellow Blairmount Public School community because the kitchen upgrade will provide the canteen with vital equipment, such as display cabinets and a fridge, to ensure students receive healthy food options.
Mr Warren, who says he proudly supports the CBP because of its positive impact on local communities, was contacted by Ms Low and the Blairmount P&C to seek his support to upgrade Kathy’s Kitchen Canteen.
The Member for Campbelltown says he was amazed at the creative take Ms Low has towards promoting healthy eating amongst the primary school students.
Mr Warren says he is a big supporter of people who are trying to ensure Campbelltown school children receive healthy food and drink options.
“I am proud to provide Kathy’s Kitchen and Blairmount Public School with this Community Building Partnership grant, as this will assist the school community in upgrading its kitchen equipment,” he said after presenting the cheque for $20,000.

“One in five NSW children are overweight or obese, though through the work and dedication of people like Kathy Low those statistics will change for the better, which is why I am delighted to assist Kathy in her journey to make Campbelltown children healthier,’’ Mr Warren said.
