Hop to it, Kangaroos, who beat Workers 52-8.
The Campbelltown City Kangaroos were unstoppable at times with the ball in the Group 6 clash with Oakdale Workers at Fullwood Reserve on Sunday. The Kangaroos won 52-8.

Campbelltown City Kangaroos celebrated the opening of their new amenities block with a 52-8 victory over Oakdale Workers on Sunday afternoon at Fullwood Reserve, reports MIKE SHEAN.

The win also signalled a return to form for the Kangaroos and third place on the premiership ladder.

The visitors only managed to breach the Kangaroos try line twice, one late in the match.

Five eighth Jett Karam was outstanding for the Kangaroos, directing play around the park all afternoon, scoring two tries himself, setting up several others and kicking 8 goals from 9 attempts.

Karam opened the scoring himself, grabbing a brace in the space of three minutes.

Just 14 minutes into the first half the home side were leading 10-0 and things were looking ominous for Oakdale.

Winger Steve Faoagali added another try for City, to give the locals a 16 point lead after 20 minutes, before Oakdale’s Ryan Clarke returned fire with their first points.

Josh Burke scored a nice try on the stroke of halftime to have the Kangaroos leading Oakdale 22-4.

Burke added another shortly after the resumption of play, before Matt Waugh, Chris Williamson and Dallas Greico all crossed.

Karam’s brother Jye also scored a try for the Roos, before Tyler Fawcett added a consolation try for Oakdale.

A penalty goal on the siren saw the final score stretch to 52-8 in favour of Campbelltown City, sending most of the fans away happy on a mild mid May Sunday afternoon.

Campbelltown City coach Drew Dalton said he was pleased with the performance from his side.

“We needed to return to form, following a disappointing loss last weekend away from home to an improving Thirlmere side, and the boys delivered in spades today,’’ the coach said.

Dalton also said he was pleased with the defensive effort from his troops.

The coach singled out Jett Karam, along with Allen Soulton and experienced front rower Ray Cashmere as the standouts for the Kangaroos.

The Greater Southern Stars will host Western Rams at Harvey Shephard Field (Kirkham Park) on Saturday afternoon from noon in the CRL Country Championships.
