Coming soon: a Junior Rangers program offering local kids  both heaps of outdoor fun and learning about Campbelltown’s stunning natural environment.

During October Campbelltown City Council will be running a host of activities at reserves across Campbelltown where kids will be able to learn about the area’s unique plants, quirky animals and historic sites.

“Campbelltown is home to an amazing variety of plants and animals,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“It’s important that our kids learn about the environment around them so they can understand the importance of protecting and maintaining our wonderful bushland and all the species of plants and animals that live within it,” Cr Brticevic said.

The program begins with a Junior Rangers nature hunt through Cumberland Plain Woodland searching for clues and exploring natural treasures at Noorumba Reserve Rosemeadow on Tuesday, October 1.

Wildlife Detectives will teach kids how to look for tracks, scats and burrows at Worrell Park in Ruse on Wednesday, October 3.

Discover aquatic bugs and insects and learn about what keeps our waterways healthy at Waterways Warriors on October 8 at Simmos Beach Reserve.

On October 10 Sensory Secrets will take kids on an adventure using sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell to search for the plants and animals inhabiting Freres Crossing at Kentlyn.

The program is suitable for children aged 5-12.

Adult supervision is required and only one session can be booked per day.
