The Campbelltown community is invited to help decide which acts will perform at the 20th annual Fisher’s Gig youth music festival.

Seven bands and five soloists will contest the heats at the Greg Percival Community Centre on Saturday, July 29.

Fisher’s Gig is a platform for young performers, aged 12 to 24, to display their talent to a vast audience, and provides participants with a professional development opportunity, including knowledge of and experience in the music industry.

The gig has been part of the annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost celebrations since 1998, starting as a band competition and growing to become an award-winning music festival.

The line-up for the heats includes As We Fall, Alister Marshall, Hannah Mitchell, Helios, Lara Dabbagh, Rose Cole, Silver Strings, Snoteleks, Stone Rock, The Shang, The Winter Effect and Third Hour.

The audience and a panel of judges at the Fisher’s Gig heats will decide which performers are in the final line-up when Fisher’s Gig is held on Saturday, November 4 at Bradbury Oval.

Deputy mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Meg Oates, encouraged the community to go along and support the performers, and make the most of the opportunity to see talented young artists live on stage.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Fisher’s Gig is a great way to foster young talent, and gives bands and soloists a leg up in the entertainment industry by providing valuable, professional experience at a live music show,” she said.[/social_quote]

Pre-sale tickets cost $10 and can be purchased from Campbelltown City Council, or directly from the performers.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door on the night for $12.

Fisher’s Gig Heats will be held from 5pm to 11pm (doors open at 4.30pm) at Greg Percival Community Centre, corner of Oxford and Cumberland Roads, Ingleburn.
