Honours: Last year’s Jubilee award recipients with the then mayor of Campbelltown, Clinton Mead.

Help recognise Campbelltown’s long serving residents, businesses and community groups by nominating them for a Jubilee Award.

But you’d better hurry because nominations close this Friday.

The Jubilee Awards recognise individuals who have lived in Campbelltown City for 50 years or more, and for 30 years or more for members of Campbelltown’s Indigenous community.

The awards program is also open to businesses and organisations that have served the city for 50 years or more.

Last year award recipients included David Homer, a volunteer with the Kentlyn Fire Brigade for 35 years and a member of the Campbelltown District Orchid Society for 30 years. He has also run a small local business.

Another was Betty Dredge, who volunteered at the office of St Peters Anglican Church, Campbelltown. She has lived in Campbelltown her entire life – and she was only 89 years young.

John Mackenzie, another recipient in 2014, has been an active member of the Campbelltown Camden District Band for 25 years. He has been a member of the Ulysses Club Macarthur Branch   and the Campbelltown Camera Club.

He has lived in Campbelltown for 50 years.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said the Jubilee Awards were an opportunity to acknowledge those long standing residents and organisations who had played a key role in helping to shape the city over many years.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“The Jubilee Awards are a chance to thank all those who have contributed to Campbelltown’s strong sense of community spirit over a considerable period of time,” Cr Lake said.[/social_quote]

“If you know of a relative, friend or neighbour who has been a long serving resident of Campbelltown, or an organisation or business that has achieved 50 years or more of service in our community, then I encourage you to nominate them for an award.

“Council looks forward to recognising the long serving members of our community, and saying thanks for contributing to Campbelltown’s strong sense of community spirit – one of the most defining characteristics of our city that we take great pride in,” Cr Lake added.

Award recipients will receive a certificate and special medallion at a ceremony to be held on Friday, July 17 in council’s civic hall.
