Campbelltown continues to have its many challenges, but it also has so many amazing things to offer, says new deputy mayor Josh Cotter.
“As I said in my speech Tuesday night, while I might have the privilege of being the deputy mayor, I am still just a normal born and bred Campbelltown community member, who’s goal will always be to help others and be of service to our community,’’ Cr Cotter said.
He was elected to replace Cr Warren Morrison, who has been deputy mayor since the start of this year.
Cr Cotter is serving his first term on Campbelltown Council, after winning a seat at last December’s local government elections.
He stood for the Community First team, which was founded by former mayor Paul Lake, who retired and passed the baton on to Josh Cotter.
He will be one of Campbelltown’s youngest deputy mayors at the age of 28.
“I am extremely proud to be given the honour of being elected as deputy mayor of Campbelltown City Council,’’ he told the South West Voice in Macarthur.
“I will continue to do my best to support and encourage our community and reach out to those who need it most.
“It might be the smallest of issues that someone needs help with, but that one small thing could mean a million things to that family or community group,’’ he said.
Mayor George Greiss congratulated Cr Cotter on his election at an extraordinary meeting held last Tuesday.
“Congratulations to Cr Josh Cotter, who has now been elected deputy mayor. I look forward to working with him for the benefit of Campbelltown,’’ he said.
Mayor Greiss also thanked Warren Morrison.
“I’d like to thank Warren for his support and efforts over this past year and look forward to continue working with him as a councillor,’’ he said.
I am still to find why Cr Morrison resigned his posts as Campbelltown Council Deputy Mayor.
Considering he still had office till 2023 .
He was elected for just one year, so he stepped down
