Local manufacturers have given the thumbs up for plans to help each other grow – which will mean more jobs.

More than 40 different manufacturing businesses have registered for tomorrow night’s launch of the Campbelltown chapter of the Southern Strength Manufacturing Network.

Campbelltown Council is behind the proposal to form a new manufacturing network that will help its members collaborate, innovate and grow together.

Council have joined forces with Southern Strength Agile Manufacturing and the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) to create the new network here in Macarthur.

“With a strong manufacturing presence, particularly in the Ingleburn and Minto Industrial areas, we identified a need to establish a network that will allow industry to collaborate, identify opportunities for transformation, evolve capabilities, and provide a platform to connect government and industry,’’ said a report to council last week.

“We know that Australian manufacturing is rapidly evolving, and the sector is undergoing a period of major change.

“With the Campbelltown Economic Development Strategy having recently been endorsed and Covid-19 causing major disruption in the sector, the time to establish the manufacturing network is now,’’ says the report.

Councillor Margaret Chivers will represent the mayor at the event on Tuesday, October 13 at Wests Leagues Club Leumeah.

Ingrid Marsh, the director of industry development at NSW Treasury will provide an update on initiatives and support for manufacturers from the State Government.

As well as the AMGC and Southern Strength, there will also be representatives from the Western Parkland Authority, AusIndustry, CSIRO, and the Department of Education.
