Woman charged after death of man who fell from ATV

A woman has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death after a man who had fallen from an all-terrain vehicle at a property near Camden (ATV) died in hospital.

Police say that around 5.30pm yesterday, Saturday, October 10, emergency services were called to a rural property at Mount Hunter following reports a man had fallen from the cargo area of an ATV, causing severe head injuries.

The man was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, the man died as a result of his injuries.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command commenced an investigation, with the assistance of the Crash Investigation Unit.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory testing.

She was later taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death.

The woman has been granted conditional bail to appear before Picton Local Court on November 10.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command will now also prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the man’s death.

A disqualified driver was charged following a vehicle stop on Parliament Road, Macquarie Fields on Friday afternoon.

The 18-year-old Macquarie Fields woman was one of more than 50 people charged during a two day proactive operation targeting knife crime, assault and weapons offences across south western Sydney.

Officers from all nine commands and specialist units in the South West Metropolitan Region, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, and Police Transport Command were deployed on Thursday and Friday as part of Operation Saber III.

Also charged and fined as part of Saber III was a learner driver who was detected allegedly driving while unaccompanied twice in Campbelltown on Friday.

About 3.20pm, a Volkswagen Golf hatchback was stopped on Bradbury Avenue, Campbelltown, and officers spoke with the driver, aged 17.

Police say she produced a Learners driver licence; however, was not accompanied by another driver and did not display any L plates.
