Moorebank Intermodal Company (MIC) chief Dr Kerry Schott has been reappointed for a further three years.
Infrastructure minister Warren Truss announced the reappointment of Dr Schott this morning.
Dr Schott has been Chair of the board of directors since MIC was formed in December 2012.
John Anderson, Wattle Grove resident and the chairman of Residents Against Intermodal Development (RAID), the action group fighting to stop the Moorebank intermodal project, said he didn’t want to make a judgment about Dr Schott because he was more concerned about the potential diesel emissions if the intermodal went ahead.
“This intermodal is going to be a pollution disaster so it’s neither here or there if Dr Schott is reappointed,’’ Mr Anderson told the South West Voice.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“What should happen is that this proposed intermodal is built somewhere away from here, preferably Badgerys Creek.’’[/social_quote]
Mr Truss says Dr Schott’s reappointment “provides a level of continuity and stability to the project as MIC implements the terms of its commercial deal with Sydney Intermodal Terminal Alliance (SIMTA).
“Under Dr Schott’s stewardship, MIC concluded an agreement with SIMTA, comprising Qube Holdings and Aurizon Holdings, for the development of the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal,’’ the minister said in his statement.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Dr Schott has significant expertise and experience in infrastructure, investment and public policy through her board membership roles in Infrastructure Australia and Infrastructure Partnerships Australia.[/social_quote]
“Dr Schott is a key member on the boards of NBN Co and the NSW Treasury Corporation.
“She has also held senior executive roles as the CEO of the NSW Commission of Audit, CEO of Sydney Water, Managing Director of Deutsche Bank and Executive Vice President of Bankers Trust Australia.
“Dr Schott was also recognised with an Order of Australia award earlier this year, for distinguished service to business and commerce through a range of public and private sector finance roles, to leadership in the delivery of government infrastructure projects, and to the community.’’
well maybe Dr Schott with all her expertise (and I’m being sertious about this) can organise and implement the disengaging of MICL from the proposed Intermodal and oversee the disposal of the allotted land to other and better alternatives !!!!
