One of the most important pieces of infrastructure and development of NSW in the last 100 years is taking place right now in our own backyard, says Drew Percival, the president of Ingleburn Business Chamber.

Mr Percival is referring to the construction of Western Sydney International Airport at Badgerys Creek.

“This airport, which will be part of the very large aerotropolis, is due to open in 2026 with a single 3.7km runaway and service both domestic and international flights,’’ he says.

When it does open it will have a massive impact in the outer South Western Sydney region and Macarthur.

But what economic benefits and opportunities the new airport will bring is not clear.

However, the guest speaker at the first dinner meeting of the Ingleburn Business Chamber will answer some of the questions local firms have about how they might be able to benefit from the operation of the airport in the next few years.

Tess Salmon, the General Manager for External Affairs and Communications at the Western Sydney Airport, is the guest speaker at the Wednesday, February 9 dinner meeting.

“The Ingleburn Business Chamber is providing the community the opportunity to hear first hand about the current construction progress of Sydney’s new airport, which started in 2018,’’ says Mr Percival.

“They will also get an insight into the economic benefits and opportunities for the Greater Western Sydney region.

“The talk will also focus on major construction packages, final terminal render designs/flythrough, community engagement undertaken by WSA, and timeline of works,’’ he said.

The meeting will commence at 7pm at Ottimo House, 205 Campbelltown Road, Denham Court.
