Dignity Ltd is a charity that offers temporary accommodation, home cooked meals, clothing, life skills programs, as well as education to dispel the myths and stigmas around homelessness.

It has two core values: every person should be treated with dignity, and that we can end homelessness in Australia one person at a time.

Dignity currently provides supported temporary accommodation and longer term housing and employment programs for hundreds of people every night of the year and operates multiple programs to prevent homelessness including food relief and education across Australia, including here in Campbelltown.

Now Dignity in Campbelltown has received  $177,812 from the NSW Government’s new Homelessness Innovation Fund.

Dignity Ltd will receive $83,545 for their Transition to Lease pilot program, as well as $94,267 for their Building Cultural Capability program.

Member for Campbelltown Greg Warren welcomed the funding for the local operation of Dignity Ltd.

“It’s fantastic to see this NSW Government support delivered to bring about improved homelessness services for the Campbelltown community.

“With increases in the number of people sleeping rough across our state, we’re making sure community housing providers are getting more support to drive innovation and reform and ensure more people have a safe roof over their heads at one of the most difficult times in their lives,” he said.

The Homelessness Innovation Fund provides short, sharp support for partner organisations that bring good ideas to the table and have a strong track record of supporting people facing homelessness.

In less than a year, the program has already provided funding for 42 innovative projects, adding 504 additional beds for rough sleepers in NSW.

Of more than 40 successful projects so far, eight are either Aboriginal-led or providing targeted support for Aboriginal people, 10 are designed to support victim-survivors of domestic and family violence and six are specifically for women at risk of homelessness.
