Plans for the $632 million Campbelltown Hospital redevelopment are now on public display, marking another milestone in delivering world class care to Macarthur residents.
Camden and Campbelltown Hospitals general manager Alison Derrett said the lodgement of the State Significant Development application was a key step towards delivering more local health services for children and adults closer to home.
“We are excited to see our hospital’s redevelopment progressing with so many wonderful inclusions to enhance and expand the region’s health care,’’ Ms Derrett said.
“The new state of the art clinical services building will be a local landmark of up to 12 levels with a helipad on the roof of the building.
“It will include significantly expanded mental health facilities and a new paediatric unit with 60 beds, which is almost triple the number in our existing ward.
“The new emergency department will have more treatment spaces and more ambulance bays.

Other works will include a new hospital entry, improved pedestrian links to existing hospital buildings new internal link roads and landscaping.
Ms Derrett, pictured left, encouraged Campbelltown and Macarthur residents to view the plans and have their say.
“The hospital is at the heart of the community and local people are in the best position to make comments and we welcome their feedback,’’ Ms Derrett said.
“As this important project for the region progresses, community engagement will be an integral part of the planning process.’’
The hospital redevelopment plans are on exhibition until September 26 and the community can make a submission or view the Environmental Impact Statement by visiting http://www.majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl?action=view_job&job_id=9241
It looks great and the fact that not too many years ago we did not have any hospital. Good on Gough Whitlam who started it all
