Older people and single parent families will benefit from 122 new social and affordable homes developed close to transport, shops and services near Camden.

The project consists of 84 one-bedroom villas for seniors and 38 two bedroom townhouses for single parent families.

Landscaped gardens, a barbecue area, community centre, veggie garden and playground are other features of BaptistCare’s Narralling Community in Elderslie.

Its completion is the latest milestone in the NSW Government’s $1.1 billion Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF), says Families, Communities and Disability Services minister Gareth Ward.

“A strong pipeline of modern, fit-for-purpose new homes is helping reduce housing stress and is providing secure housing for people who need it most,” Mr Ward said.

“This project is an excellent example of the work the NSW Government is doing in collaboration with community housing providers, which is not only creating great social outcomes but also significant economic benefits in the form of local jobs.”

BaptistCare CEO Charles Moore said BaptistCare is delivering 500 homes as part of the SAHF, which will support people facing rental stress and homelessness.

“Having a secure place to call home is vital, but housing is not just about a roof over a head. We are also creating communities in our housing sites encouraging friendships and support networks for the people who live there,” Mr Moore said.

“Tenants will also have access to a suite of support services including in-home care services, no interest loans and chaplaincy support, as well as the reassurance that our staff are there to assist with their independence and wellbeing.”

Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said the project would provide a significant boost to housing options available in outer South Western Sydney.

“This is another example of the unprecedented infrastructure being delivered by the NSW Government in our growing region,’’ he said.

“To have housing of this quality located close to services and transport options will enable tenants to live, work and thrive in our wonderful community,” Mr Sidgreaves said.
