Campbelltown and Airds Historical Society president Kay Hayes has received a NSW community service award.

Campbelltown MP Greg Warren surprised Ms Hayes with the award during a function at the society’s home base, Glenavlon House, recently, as pictured above.

“Kay has poured so much time and energy into preserving, protecting and promoting our local heritage,” Mr Warren said.

“Kay hasn’t put in such a big effort for the accolades – but it was certainly nice to give her one to recognise her contribution.

“It was even better to surprise her with the award at Glenalvon House in front of so many people.”

Ms Hayes joins a long line of Campbelltown residents to receive the award including Uncle Ivan Wellington and Campbelltown Hospital Auxiliary member Jan Drayton – to name a few.

Mr Warren said Ms Hayes certainly deserved to be on the prestigious list.

“Kay is certainly a deserved recipient of the NSW Community Service Award,” Mr Warren said.

“The NSW Community Service Award pays tribute to people that have gone above and beyond in the their community – and that is certainly something Kay has done.

“Congratulations Kay, on an award that is well and truly deserved.”
