3copsPolice have arrested and charged a woman who struck five vehicles during a pursuit at Chipping Norton overnight with two infant children in her car. At about 9.45pm police were patrolling on the M5 Motorway at Moorebank when an officer saw the driver of a white Holden Commodore station wagon which was travelling east disobey a red traffic control light at the Heathcote Road exit.

Police activated their warning lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the driver who continued south along Heathcote Road and into Nuwarra Road. Police will allege that as she continued in Nuwarra Road she accelerated to 110km/h in the 60km/h zone and a pursuit commenced. The woman then side swiped three vehicles parked on the southern side of Nuwarra Road and struck the rear of a silver Hyundai. The Holden mounted a kerb on Nuwarra Road, struck a residents van, and finally came to a stop in the front yard of a home.

A 33 year old woman was removed from the vehicle, arrested and underwent a roadside breath test which was negative. Also removed from the vehicle were her two infant children, a 14-month old girl and three month old boy. All three were taken by ambulance paramedics under police escort to Liverpool Hospital for precautionary checks. After being released from hospital, she was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with driving while unlicensed, failing to stop during police pursuit (Skye’s Law), drive recklessly/furiously, exceed speed by more than 45km/h, and negligent driving. She was refused bail and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Monday, June 15).

♦ In a separate incident, police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at Chipping Norton yesterday. Around 6.25pm a 42 year old man was working at the counter of a supermarket on Epsom Road when a man approached him. The man demanded cash and threatened the attendant with a knife, before grabbing cash from the till. The robber ran out of the store and south on Epsom Road.

Police were contacted and officers from Liverpool Local Area Command attended the location. The attendant was not injured during the incident. Specialist forensic officers attended and examined the scene. The man police are looking for was described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern in appearance, about 183cm tall, wearing a black hooded jumper and carrying a red and white bag.
