A new employment service – jobactive – is just what the doctor ordered for local jobseekers.
Federal member for Macarthur Russell Matheson says jobactive will help them to find and keep a job.
“Through jobactive, local job seekers can receive help to prepare a resume, look for work, prepare for interviews and undertake training and work experience that will improve their chances of finding a job,’’ Mr Matheson said.
“Local employers will also benefit from the new jobactive system especially through the new $1.2 billion wage subsidy pool.
“As part of the recent Federal Budget, the government has made the wage subsidy arrangements more flexible.
“Employers will be able to receive a wage subsidy from the day an eligible job seeker starts in a job and can be paid on a fortnightly basis.
“This will help employers with the upfront costs of hiring and training new staff and encourage more employers to think about taking on a local job seeker.”
Mr Matheson also welcomed the roll out of Work for the Dole in the region.
“Work for the Dole helps job seekers to gain new skills and remain active and engaged while looking for work,” Mr Matheson said.

Jobactive services will be delivered by a number of organisations in our region including Employment Services Group, Global Skills, MAX Employment, Mission Providence, WISE Employment Ltd, Workskil Australia and MTC Australia.
“Jobactive delivers on the government’s commitment to reform employment services for the benefit of job seekers and employers alike.
“I look forward to working with the new jobactive providers in our region to help connect local job seekers and employers,” Mr Matheson said.
