Starting from this month, there will be plenty of help on offer for local students sitting for the HSC in Camden this year.
A raft of workshops and interactive talks will be held at Narellan Library to help students be prepared for this year’s exams.
Each of the free sessions will be run by exam and study experts to provide advice in the lead up to the final high school exams.
Three subject experts will host Discovery Day to explore the English, Ancient and Modern History topics between 9.15am and 12.30pm on Saturday, May 20.
The morning will include advice and information from HSC English senior marker, Larry Grumley (9.15am-11am), author of HSC modern history texts Paul Kiem (11am-12.30pm) and author of HSC ancient history texts, Toni Hurley (11am-12.30pm).
Mathematics will be the focus of a study group run by teacher and tutor John Wang between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday, May 24.
Senior HSC marker and co-author of the current Community and Family Studies (CAFS) textbook resource Kelly Bell, will host a seminar between 10am and 12 noon on Saturday, June 17.
The presentation will include a question and answer session, discussion about course content and what to expect in the exam.
The author of Manipulate your Marker, Mitchell Grotte, will host a session to help students understand what the marker is looking for between 2pm and 4pm on Tuesday, July 4.
An interactive talk, practical tips and cramming advice will be offered by creator of Study TV, Rowan Kunz, between 3pm and 4.30pm on Monday, September 25.
The author of Secrets of HSC Success Revealed and founder of Art of Smart Education tuition and HSC resources, Mr Kunz will offer study advice based on seven years of research of top scoring students.
HSC teachers and tutors will be on hand to provide 20 minute sessions to students wanting to clarify points about the English, Mathematics, Geography, Business Studies, Legal Studies and Economics subjects.
Sessions can be organised for individuals or groups of up to three people between 3pm and 5pm, October 2-6.
“Young people can feel a lot of pressure to perform at an exceptional level to score good marks in their HSC,” says Camden Mayor Lara Symkowiak.

The Ironbark Room will be available for quiet study between 2.30pm and 7.30pm each Wednesday, from May 3 until November 10.
Narellan Library will also offer extended hours of operation for HSC study in September and October.
