Couple held up at gunpointA couple who visited a Tahmoor skate park using an iphone app were the subject of an attempted robbery at gunpoint on Wednesday night.

Police are now appealing for public assistance to track down the robbers.

The couple, a man and woman both aged 29, drove to the skate park on Thirlmere Way, while using a phone app, police said.

Moments after the pair entered the car park a white Toyota Hilux reversed across the driveway, blocking their car.

Two men with their faces covered, one armed with a rifle, jumped out of the Hilux.

The man with the rifle threatened the pair before both men drove off empty handed.

Police say there is nothing to suggest that the men used the game app to lure the people to the location or that the men were known to the pair.

The man and woman drove to the town centre where police were notified.

Officers from Camden Local Area Command conducted a patrol of the area; however, neither the men nor the Hilux were found.

A crime scene was established and investigated by specialist officers.

The incident comes as a reminder for people to be aware of their surroundings, especially when travelling to unfamiliar locations.

Investigations are continuing and police are hoping to speak with two men who might be able to assist with inquiries.

One man is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 190cm tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark blue jacket and dark pants.

The other man is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 180cm tall, with a solid build, and fair complexion. He was wearing a dark blue jacket with a high-visibility shirt underneath, dark pants, and work boots.

Police are urging anyone who knows the whereabouts of the men, not to approach them and contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
