Jayden Rivera, the Greens candidate in the seat of Campbelltown for the March 25 state election says he wants to keep the major parties honest and focused on the community’s priorities and needs.
“I am proud to be running for the seat of Campbelltown once again for The Greens to represent our community’s needs,’’ he says.
“Campbelltown has been my community for my whole life and I’m very proud to call Campbelltown home.’’
Free public healthcare is part of his platform heading into the election.
“Access a GP, allied health, dental and mental health professional through your local, public community health centre for free,’’ he said.
Mr Rivera supports policies that make housing accessible and affordable for all.
By that he means ending the rental bidding, introducing legislation to freeze rental increases, ending unfair no-grounds evictions, and focusing heavily on ending homelessness by investing more into public and social housing.
Naturally, as a Greens candidate, a big part of his platform is about protecting nature and the environment.
“The Greens are focusing on our plan to save koalas and our wildlife by funding wildlife hospitals and rescue organisations.
“We also want to protect their habitat, as well as getting over and under passes built on Appin Road.’’
Mr Rivera says that to ease cost of living pressures we need to make housing affordable, provide free public transport and put power assets back into public hands.
“We should also scrap the public sector wage cap, support our nurses by improving nurse to patient ratios, and ensure our emergency department is funded adequately,’’ he says.
“We should also fully fund public education.
“These are all things we can achieve by making the big banks, fossil fuel companies and property developers pay their fair share,’’ Mr Rivera said.
