Great Egg Hunt
Hey, kids: Easter Bunny will be adding to the fun of a Giant Egg Hunt in the Australian Botanic Garden at Mt Annan this Saturday.

The Easter Bunny is coming to The Australian Botanic Garden this Saturday, March 26.

It’s part of what is sure to be one of the biggest egg hunts Sydney’s west has ever seen.

The Great Egg Hunt invites children to use a trail map to complete fun challenges, collect chocolate eggs and hunt for their furry Easter friend.

Adding to the excitement, if not the sweetness level, confectionary company Darrell Lea have come on board as a major sponsor for the family event.

Organisers say the Australian family owned company was a natural fit for the occasion, having originated in Sydney and relocated to Ingleburn a little more than a year ago.

“Darrell Lea will be supplying the yummiest chocolate eggs for the event,” says Cordelia Hough, Australian Botanic Garden education and community programs officer.

But there will also be an importance placed on creating an event inclusive for all children, meaning a range of activities will be available on the day.

“Vision Australia is another event partner who have helped make the activities inclusive for children who are blind or have low vision, so we will have sound emitting eggs for children to find as well as other sensory games – so spread the word,” Ms Hough said.

Other Easter themed activities on the day will include: a Bunny Hop sack race, a plant perfume guessing game, the chance to meet the Easter bunny or hold baby chicks thanks to Henny Penny Hatching and the egg or seed challenge which incorporates seeds as a symbol of new life.

Families are encouraged to make a day out of their visit, to pack a picnic and enjoy a walk through the gardens or a tour of the PlantBank.

The PlantBank will be hosting Seed, Art, Lab: Seeds through an Artist’s Lens, an exhibition by artist Sophie Munns.

Seed pods and drawing materials will be on-hand for children to creatively explore.
