Hundreds of volunteers from 12 local community groups will benefit from funding under the latest round of the Australian Government volunteer grants program.

Member for Hume Angus Taylor said almost $44,000 in grants will be distributed to help the local organisations in his electorate with equipment purchases and costs associated with training and transport.

“The great thing about these grants is that they’re distributed to a wide variety of volunteer groups, from helping the Goulburn Pony Club with landscaping costs, to assisting Gunning District Association with computer equipment and training expenses,” Mr Taylor said.

Twelve Hume electorate community groups comprising more than 500 volunteers will receive funding under the latest round totalling $43,735.

They are His House Care Picton, Ronald Jones Mt Annan, Ganmain Gron Grong Matong Junior Football Boorowa, Diversity ACT Community Services Goulburn, Goulburn Pony Club, Goulburn AP & H Society, Collector Memorial Hall, Men’s Shed Narellan, Bundanoon Good Yarn, Margaret Williams Crookwell, Gunning District Association, Zonta Club Of Goulburn.

“The grants of between $1000 and $5000 will enable these organisations to better support their volunteers by purchasing much needed equipment, training and transport,” Mr Taylor said.

“Next week, from May 8, is National Volunteer Week, when we acknowledge the important work of our volunteers and their organisations in building stronger communities.

“I’m glad to see that our local organisations will have this support to continue their valuable work.”
