Danijel Nizic will strengthen the Macarthur FC goalkeeping stocks for the 2023/24 A-League season after signing a one year deal.

The 28-year-old joins the Bulls after three successful seasons with NPL NSW club Sydney United 58.

During his stint with United the club won the title in 2020.

It also reached the 2022 Australia Cup final – against Macarthur FC.

One of the exceptional performers in that campaign, Nizic saved a penalty in the semi-final and was heroic in an earlier shoot-out against Western United to help Sydney United become the first NPL side to reach the competition’s decider.

That final was won by Macarthur FC, but the United goalie obviously impressed the coaching staff at the Bulls.

“Danijel has been a standout in the NPL NSW for the past three seasons and has worked hard to get this opportunity,’’ says Bulls head coach Mile Sterjovski.

“He has proven his ability to get here, and he is a player we believe can challenge here at the Bulls.’’

A towering figure and impressive shot stopper, Nizic’s signing marks his return to the A-League after a three-year absence, having previously played for Western Sydney Wanderers.

Before that, Nizic had spells in England with Morecambe, Crewe, Chorley and Workington after coming through the youth academy of English Premier League club Burnley.

“I want to thank the Bulls for giving me this opportunity, I am really excited to be here,” Nizic said.

“I have worked hard for three years to have this opportunity. I am looking forward to getting to work and giving everything for this club and have a successful season.”
