Excited: Mark Keaton has been a go-kart fan since he was 16.

Local disability service providers were out in force at the official launch of the Special Speeds for Special Needs sessions to be made available every Wednesday at Fastlane Karting.

Representatives from Blue Wing Care, Careroos, Macathur Disability Service, APM Work Placement, Eloma Care, MTC Australia and DMS Care joined the Mayor of Campbelltown, George Greiss and Camden deputy mayor Teresa Fedeli on site at Swettenham Road, Minto.

Councillors Josh Cotter and Warren Morrison from Campbelltown, and Cr Usha Dommaraju from Camden, were also attended at the launch, which doubled as a workshop to help give the concept a flying start.

Binod Paudel, president of Campbelltown Rotary Club for the past 12 months was another attendee this morning.

Fastlane Karting disability adviser Mark Keaton, who has cerebral palsy, explained how the special session came about and how excited he was to see it introduced by Dean Choma, owner of Fastlane Karting.

“For me this is just giving back to the community that has supported me,’’ he said of his involvement with Fastlane Karting.

Mayor Greiss told those present that the proposed service for people with different abilities was commendable.

“Programs like this, including the quiet hour sessions the council has introduced at all its events, give people with disability their fair share of what’s on offer, including leisure activities like go-karts,’’ he said.

“I hope that everyone gets on board with this great initiative,’’ he said.

Sessions for people with different abilities and their have to be prebooked with Fastlane Karting.

There are three two-seater karts available to accommodate carers who need to stay with their client at all times, including while being out on the track.
