Camden Campbelltown Ghosts have won bragging rights over Fairfield Liverpool Lions after winning their Sydney Grade cricket Rivalry Round clash at Raby Sports Centre yesterday (Saturday).

The Ghosts did it slow and steady while batting, scoring a tad over four runs an over before being dismissed for 215 in the 48th over.

It was such slow going that not one Ghosts batsman made a half century, Damien Mortimer the closest with 49.

He received great support from Adam Coyte, who made a patient 42.

For the Lions, the damage was done by Harmon Sandhu, who claimed four wickets for 36 runs in a very good performance from the younger brother of Gurinder.

Harmon looks he’s got the right stuff for higher honours just like his brother if he can continue working hard.

The Lions did manage one half century when they batted, 56 by Anthony Clark, but it didn’t make any difference to the final result.

They were all out for 185 – 31 runs short of the victory target.

For the Ghosts in the field, it was a team effort in that all the bowlers contributed, and as a result they also shared the spoils.

Scott Coyte got three wickets, with two each to Tom Rogers, Wayne Bull and Josh Clark. There was one runout.

After the Christmas break, the two south west Sydney clubs will resume their 2014-15 grade cricket campaigns in round eight, which will be played from Saturday, January 10.

Both the Ghosts and the Lions will cross the Harbour Bridge for their matches, with Liverpool taking on Manly and Campbelltown up against Mosman.
