Everyone loves a parade or so the saying goes.
But taking part in a parade may even more fun, according to those who have done it.
Well, entries are now open for the 2015 Fisher’s Ghost Street Parade, so join the party and be part of Campbelltown’s longest running community event, the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost.
This year the fabulous march down Queen Street will take place on Saturday, November 7.
This year the festival celebrates 60 years of eerie entertainment and fairground fun.
During November 6-15, Campbelltown will come alive with a series of fun activities including a Street Fair, the prestigious Fisher’s Ghost Art Award, the annual Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run, and a carnival with spectacular fireworks, all in the name of the region’s most famous apparition, Frederick Fisher.
Seen as one of the highlights of the festival, the Street Parade has come to signify the official opening, showcasing the diversity of the Campbelltown community in a lively and colourful celebration.
Local community groups, individuals and businesses are encouraged to participate in the parade to demonstrate their support of the Campbelltown community and highlight their group or message. Parade entrants can adopt the Join the Party theme, or be inspired by the legend of Fisher’s Ghost and Campbelltown’s unique history.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, urged local sporting groups, schools, community organisations and businesses to join the parade and make the 60th annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost a big event.
“You don’t need a float to participate – walking groups are more than welcome, and there is $3,000 in prize money on offer for the best parade entries across a range of categories,” Cr Lake said.
Being in the parade is free, but potential participants must register their interest by Wednesday, October 14.
