Garage Sale Trail – the popular festival of pre-loved items – is coming to Macarthur.

Garage Sale Trail aims to help people extend the life of household items or find the ultimate pre-loved gem.

In 2020, more than 1,500 tons of items found new homes through Garage Sale Trail.

This year it will take place over two weekends, allowing more people to sell, shop and learn, including a free masterclass tutorial to help participants prepare.

On Saturday and Sunday, November 6-7, a series of free Trail Tutorial Masterclasseswill be held online, including:

  • How to DIY your wardrobe, with Daisy Braid;
  • Smart women choose sustainable fashion, hosted by Dr Rebecca Huntley;
  • Make reselling your side hustle;
  • How to host and style your garage sale;
  • How to host a virtual garage sale.

The Virtual Garage Sales or, if restrictions allow, community garage sales, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 13-14, and then again on the following weekend of November 20-21.

It’s free to take part, with sellers able to get all the tips, support and promotional materials they need including touch-free QR code payments enabled by PayPal.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the Garage Sale Trail enabled the local community to continue doing their bit for the environment.

“Council continues to work hard to be environmentally friendly and work with the community to divert waste from landfill,” Cr Fedeli said.

“We all have a number of items in our own homes that we may not use anymore, so why not host a Garage Sale and help save those items from landfill by maximising the value of all the energy and resources that go into making the items we buy.

“This is the circular economy in action and I know our community can help by selling, shopping and learning about it. I encourage residents to join the Garage Sale Trail this year and do your bit for your local environment.”
