Finding something fun and affordable for young people to do just became a lot easier, thanks to a new guide produced by the Macarthur Youth Services Network.
30 things for young people to do in Macarthur under $15 was launched last week at the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan, as part of Youth Week celebrations.
The guide is a collaboration between local youth and Macarthur Youth Services Network, identifying free and low cost entertainment and leisure activities across the region.
Each listing includes a brief description, with icons providing an at a glance indication of admission costs, food availability, transport options and disability access.
In 2015, Macarthur Youth Services Network surveyed young people across Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly to find out what they liked to do for affordable fun, with the goal of creating a resource for young people, service providers and the wider community.
The result is the 30 things for young people to do in Macarthur under $15 guide, highlighting the most popular activities as voted by Macarthur’s youth.
The guide became a reality thanks to funding assistance from National Youth Week, Campbelltown City Council, Camden Council and Wollondilly Shire Council.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said council was pleased to support a great initiative that connected young people to activities and facilities in the Macarthur region.
“This is a terrific resource, providing a handy guide to the most affordable leisure activities for young people,” Cr Hawker said.
“From bushwalking and shopping, to art and sport, there are loads of inexpensive, fun things to do in Macarthur.
