A former foster carer will appear in Campbelltown Local Court later today to face a number of charges of sexual abuse of a young girl while in his care.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually and indecently assaulted the girl – then aged between 12 and 15 – on several occasions.
The 57 year old man, who was arrested at a home in Ingleburn last Friday, has been charged with six counts of aggravated sexual intercourse and two counts of indecent assault person of a person under the age of 16.
The man was refused bail when he appeared before Parramatta Bail Court last Saturday.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad are in charge of the investigation.
The squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.

In a separate incident, Campbelltown City Police Area Command are investigating after a man was stabbed during a brawl at a party in Denham Court in the early hours of Sunday morning.
About 3.30am police were called to a home on Jamestown Avenue after reports of a brawl.
Officers arrived to find a 23-year-old man with a stab wound to his stomach on the street.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
His injuries are not considered life threatening.
