The multi billion dollar NBN rollout has been anything but smooth over the past few years.
Some local areas which received it reported improvements in internet availability as well as speeds.
But the compliments for NBN have been few and far between.
Mostly it has been a disappointing result, and that’s just for those suburbs which were connected to the NBN.
There were also suggestions prior to last year’s federal election some Macarthur suburbs were getting a superior connection to neighbouring suburbs.
One of the places where the lack of connection has been an issue is the northern part of Campbelltown, especially in and around Ingleburn.
Local business has been crying out to be connected to the NBN in the hope of gaining improvements to the hopelessly slow internet speeds they have had so far.
But if a forum on the NBN organised by a local federal MP is any guide, there are still a raft of problems related to the NBN in that part of Campbelltown.
“Last week more than 100 local residents attended an NBN forum I hosted,” said Anne Stanley, the Member for Werriwa.
[social_quote duplicate=”nos” align=”default”]“It was clear from the turn up on the night and the volume of complaints to my office the past several weeks that the rollout in Werriwa is anything but smooth.”[/social_quote]
Ms Stanley said the complaints range from poor internet speeds to a lack of information and clear instructions for back to base alarms, medical alarms and landline only services.
“The most frequent complaint is about service, whether it be poor experience with both NBN and service providers or constituents not getting what they are paying for,” Ms Stanley said.
“The experience of Werriwa residents is simply not good enough.
“They deserve much better.
“Small businesses can’t function, students can’t do school work and pensioners are confused and concerned.
“The NBN rollout must be improved,’’ Ms Stanley said.
“To not do so relegates my constituents to third rate services.”
