The Rotary Club of Campbelltown has welcomed its new board of directors for 2016/17.

The new leadership group was inducted at a formal dinner at Campbelltown Golf Club last week.

Close to 100 guests were there for the occasion, including Macarthur MP Russell Matheson, Campbelltown MP Greg Warren, Campbelltown Mayor Paul Hawker, Rotary District Governor Stephen Humphreys as well other Rotarians who had travelled from as far as Nowra.

The board of directors is led by former Campbelltown MP and senior police officer Bryan Doyle, who is eager to build on the good work the club has already done.

“Campbelltown Rotary will continue to serve our community in the spirit of friendship and hope,” he said.

“We will work in partnership with other groups to benefit the Campbelltown community.

“This year we will be hosting a delegation from our sister city, Koshigaya, to re-affirm our charter.”

Mr Doyle served as a police officer for 27 years and was the Chief Inspector at Campbelltown Police Station before he entered parliament in 2011.

He was inspired to join Rotary after helping with Rotary’s U-Turn The Wheel road safety program.

“It has undoubtedly saved many young lives on the region’s roads” he said.

Serving alongside Mr Doyle will be vice president and membership director Julieanne Horsman, secretary David Symonds, treasurer Jermund Johanssen, club service director David Tricca, community service director Murray Kear, international director Lampa Roberts, vocation director Dianne Blyth and youth director Kerrie Heath.

Mr Doyle takes over the helm from well-known local woman, Tammy Hatch, who was the first person of Pacific Island descent to be president of an Australian Rotary club.

The club had a successful year under her guidance, donating close to $30,000 to charity, supporting local events and hosting the Rotary Police Awards and Rotary Youth Excellence Awards in conjunction with the five other Rotary clubs in the Macarthur region.

Rotary was founded in the United States by Paul P. Harris in 1905.

There are now 1.2 million Rotarians in 35,000 clubs worldwide, doing good in their community and beyond.

The Rotary Club of Campbelltown meets every Monday at Campbelltown Catholic Club at 6:30pm.

New members and visitor are always welcome.
