The wheels of democracy, especially counting votes during elections, move a little slow.

But formal declarations are now coming thick and fast for the May 21 election, and one of them confirmed what everyone already knew, that Labor MP Anne Stanley had won a third term in Werriwa.

Ms Stanley posted on social media this photo of herself and Alison, the returning officer for the seat, from yesterday’s official declaration.

“It is a great privilege to be returned as the Member for Werriwa,” said Ms Stanley.

Ms Stanley said among other things Labor in government will mean real action on climate change, a national anti-corruption commission, fixing our broken aged care system, strengthening Medicare and bringing back manufacturing to Australia.

“I am excited that the election of the Anthony Albanese government will see a better future for all Australians,” she said.

Ms Stanley also took time out to thank her supporters.

“Thank you to all our community groups for their support over the last three years. I look forward to working with you again,” she said.

“I want to also thank the amazing volunteers and supporters who helped me throughout the campaign.

“It is your help that means I am able to continue fighting for the things that are important to our community.

“Last but not least, I want to give a big thank you to my family and friends who have provided incalculable support to me during this campaign, I could not have done it without them.”

Ms Stanley said her electorate office was open and continuing to support the constituents of Werriwa.

The office can be reached by phone on 8783 0977, email at Anne.Stanley.MP@aph.gov.au or in person at 7/441 Hoxton Park Road, Hinchinbrook.
