Lovers of Macarthur’s diverse and delicious smorgasbord of food and flavours will have an opportunity to capture their food experiences during Taste Macarthur for a chance to share in a total prize pool of $800.

Taste Macarthur runs throughout March and April and is hosted by Visit Macarthur – the tourism arm of Campbelltown and Camden City Councils.

This year a photo competition adds an extra level of flavour to the program, which has been promoting the region as “foodie’s paradise’’ for more than five years. Taste Macarthur culminates with the AnnanRoma Food and Wine Festival at The Australian Botanic Garden in Mount Annan on Sunday, April 26.

To enter the competition, you simply have to take a photo featuring a delicious meal, fresh local produce, your favourite dining venue or a meal shared with family and friends. Share the image on the Macarthur Facebook or Instagram page and use the hashtag #tastemacarthur.

The competition has four categories, including Food and Friends (#foodandfriends), Autumn Colours (#autumncolours), General Food Images (#foodshots) and AnnanRoma (#AnnanROMA). The images that receive the most likes in each category will win a $200 Visa gift card that can be used throughout Australia. Enter as many images as you like – just remember to include the hashtag #tastemacarthur and include the category hashtag as well. You can also use the hashtag of the venue, if applicable.

The image must be taken during March or April 2015, and include food, wine or produce from a venue located in either the Campbelltown or Camden local government areas.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said Taste Macarthur reflected the region’s love of good food and wine.

“The Macarthur region is a foodie’s paradise, with more than 200 cafes, restaurants, bars, wineries, local produce stores and farmers markets – now that’s sure to whet your appetite,” Cr Lake said.

“Macarthur boasts an enviable range of international cuisines, as well as some incredible boutique wines and beers.

“You can also purchase fresh produce or local gourmet products at a number of hidden gems scattered throughout the region.

“Taste Macarthur is putting our region on the map – or rather, the palates, of people from across our region and beyond, and we are fast earning a reputation for being a destination for lovers of good food and wine,” Cr Lake said.
