The Liverpool Night Markets return on Saturday, August 2 with a great range of food, stalls and entertainment – including a special performance by the Funky Love Squad dancers, who will bring disco back to Macquarie Street with their incredible stilt-dancing skills.
Following a large crowd at the July markets, attendance at the August Night Markets is expected to be strong, with a variety of new stall holders and family-friendly entertainment on offer. Highlights for August include:
Disco-inspired stilt dancing from the Funky Love Squad;
Local buskers performing popular tunes you’ll want to sing along to;
A chance to try your hand at still-life drawing, and ceramics with CPAC’s Clayhouse;
Beautiful floral arts and crafts from Khmer Women’s Group;
Story time and board games at the Liverpool Library’s pop-up branch.
Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun is encouraging everyone to continue to turn out to support the Night Markets and enjoy our city after dark – and to bring a friend or family member along from outside the area to experience the city’s popular night time event.
“We had a fantastic turnout at last month’s Night Markets, despite the cold weather. I want to encourage our residents to put August 2 in their diary, and spread the word – it’s a great opportunity to catch up with friends and family and to show people how Liverpool is growing and changing,” he said.
“The Night Markets are fast becoming a much-loved event, so come down to Macquarie Street on August 2 and sample some delicious food, be entertained by the Funky Love Squad dancers and others and enjoy our city at night.”
The markets are held on the first Saturday of every month in Macquarie Street from 4-9pm and are part of Liverpool City Council’s plans to boost the city’s night time economy and make Liverpool a more exciting place to live and work.
