When it appeared on the Campbelltown social scene in 2018, Feast was an instant hit with locals and visitors.

And no wonder – Feast had everything, from great food and sweets to live music and fun for the kids and indeed the whole family.

The venue, Redfern Park in Minto, which has an amphitheatre design, was perfect for this celebration of some of the cultures which have found a home in Campbelltown.

There was an amazing array of food offerings – and here’s a bit of advice that comes from personal experience – don’t arrive too late or there may not be much food left.

Hopefully the wonderful community atmosphere that prevailed at Feast ’18 will be back again when this great community event returns after a two year absence.

Feast 2022 is set for another run on Saturday, September 17, from 2pm to 9pm when Redfern Park will once again transform into a festive blend of sights, sounds and tastes from all over the world.

Campbelltown Council, which is behind Feast, says on the menu in 2022 will be traditional food stalls, live performances and cooking demonstrations.

“Campbelltown is home to one of the most diverse and multicultural communities in South Western Sydney,” says Mayor George Greiss.

“By coming together and celebrating these cultures at Feast, residents are able to explore the customs and delicious foods of our multicultural community, while connecting with their traditions,” Cr Greiss said.

Just like previous Feast events, stage performances will take place throughout the event, giving attendees a glimpse into cultural dance and instruments.

There will be instrumental demonstrations of didgeridoo, bagpipes, drumming, and live performances of Chinese lion dancing, the haka, Latino dancing and more.

There’s children’s entertainment from 2pm to 5pm, with the Kid’s Activity Trail Passport, offering the chance to join dance and movement workshops, sushi-making courses, Aboriginal craft, origami lantern-making, drumming, and VR headset activities.

Passports are available on the website, which can be completed and taken to council’s information tent, for a chance to win one of five activity packs.

But most importantly, put Feast on Saturday, September 17 in your diary and see you there.
