A second man has been charged over the death of a 22 year old man in a house fire at Elderslie earlier this year.

About 8am today a 19-year-old man attended Campbelltown Police Station where he was arrested and charged with two counts of destroying property – intent to endanger life and in company use fire.

The 19-year-old man was given strict conditional bail to appear at Picton Local Court on Wednesday, December 11.

He is the second man to be arrested under Strike Force Cavenagh – Camden detectives, State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and the Financial Crime Squad’s Arson Unit – established to investigate the fire and death of the man on Saturday, June 1.

Emergency services were called to Crank Place, Elderslie, about 11.40pm following reports of a home invasion and a house fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW officers attended, and after the blaze was extinguished located the body of a 22-year-old man inside the home.

Investigations are continuing.

In a separate incident, a Narellan Vale man will face court next month charged with high range drink driving yesterday (Sunday).

About 10.55am police attached to Campbelltown Highway Patrol were travelling east on Welling Drive when they recorded a white Hyundai sedan travelling nearly 20km over the speed limit.

They stopped the vehicle and subjected the driver to a roadside breath test, which allegedly proved positive.

The 49-year-old man was arrested and taken to Narellan Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis which police say returned a positive reading of 0.205.

He was charged with exceeding the speed limit by 10km/h and high range PCA.

He was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice to attend Picton Local Court on December 10.

His licence was immediately suspended.
